ROOT CANALS

A Root Canal Treatment is a procedure designed to save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing the tooth. During a root canal procedure, the bacteria is cleaned and eliminated from the tooth, along with the nerve and blood supply of the tooth.

Ideally, a root canal procedure should not cause pain and should be similar to having other dental work done such as fillings. In Fact, patients frequently experience pain relief after a root canal procedure.

In many cases, a crown may be necessary to protect the tooth from breaking down long term after a root canal procedure, especially for teeth towards the back of the mouth.
